Welcome to the Loveland Church of Christ

Meet The Elders

The spiritual leaders of the church are called Elders. Biblically, Elders are given the responsibility to lead the church through good solid teaching, either by teaching themselves or ensuring others are teaching well.  They also look after and care for members of the congregation as counselors and caring men.

Shepherd and Overseer are two other titles/descriptions of the office of Elder. All three terms are based on the example of the New Testament church.  In both Acts 20 and 1 Peter 5 we read all three titles applied to the same group of leaders and their work in the church.

Elders are not expected to do all the work.  Rather they have the responsibility to make sure each ministry is functioning as it should and that the members are doing well. In the New Testament where we read about Elders, there was always more than one Elder in each of the congregation.  They shared the work of the "Eldership,"  working together and making decisions as a group.

Elders are selected from among the men of the congregation who meet the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

Keith Dart

Keith and his wife, Anzie, became members of the Loveland congregation in 1985.  They were married in 1962 and have three grown children.  Keith spent 32 years working as an air traffic controller and Anzie is a homemaker and enjoys teaching children’s Bible classes, walking and reading.  Keith desires that the Loveland congregation will continue to be an influence for the gospel of Christ.

Jim Elliott

Jim and his wife, Connie, have been members of the Loveland congregation since 1991.  They were married in 1963 and have two grown sons; James, who lives and worships in the Denver area, and Gary and family worship here in Loveland.  Jim has served as an Elder in Loveland since 1995.  Jim would like to encourage the Loveland congregation to be more evangelistic in our local community.

Gary Carpenter

Gary and his wife, Allie, became members of the Loveland congregation in 2002. They were married in 1976, and have two grown daughters. Gary worked for the U.S.D.A. for 32 years, and Allie was a schoolteacher. They both love to travel, especially if it involves visiting their children and grandchildren. Gary encourages us to continue to grow closer together as the body of Christ, as in Romans 12:10, “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor.”
and to continue reaching out to our community and influencing others to obey the gospel call of Christ.
